FLORIAN LOHMANN
About Me.
Call me a UX designer, an engineer, or a founder, but above all, I'm Florian from Munich. I'm passionate about sports, travel, the environment, design and technology. Whether I'm designing on a computer or getting my hands dirty installing heavy machinery in remote locations, I embrace the challenge. I find comfort among friends in my hometown, but I'm equally drawn to exploring the world and experiencing diverse cultures. My personality is multifaceted, and I resist being pigeonholed.
I thrive on problem-solving and crafting elegant, intelligent solutions. My strength lies in simplifying complex issues to their core, making people say, 'Wow, that's so straightforward, why didn't I think of it?' Whether you're interested in user experience design, product development, engineering, or consultancy, don't hesitate to reach out to me!
Education & Experience
in a nutshell
I earned my first degree in Mechanical Engineering at the prestigious University of Southampton in the UK. During my studies, I specialized in mechatronics and developed an intuitive electric motor visualization software for my thesis. Subsequently, I pursued a Master's in Environmental Management, with a focus on digital analysis. For my Master's thesis, I designed an online coastal protection course.
This journey led me to become the director of an environmental academy in Montevideo, Uruguay, in collaboration with the German GIZ. Later, I excelled as an E-Learning coordinator and instructional designer at the Cluster of Excellence of Organic Electronics in Heidelberg.
My career path led me to the world of wakeboard cableways, where I took on roles as a project engineer, responsible for planning wakeparks globally, and a design engineer, pioneering cableway solutions. Later, I assumed the position of technical manager.
In 2020, I launched my Munich-based entrepreneurial venture, with my brand surfinlock®, founded on my patented surfboard anti-theft system. Simultaneously, I graduated in October 2023 from an immersive UX design course, expanding my skills and bridging my diverse experiences with the principles of user-centered design.
